The house that Parra built…
I have been living a long way from home for about ten years. In that time, only three of my friends have seen my house. One TJ Fudge, my high school frosh roommate, Daniel Baum, my accomplice through prep and college, and Kerry, the dear ex girlfriend of college and post.
So I decided to let all you on the little secret. So come in come in. The patio is a bit drab, but good for games.
But can’t you feel the warmth as soon as you step in? The dinning room and TV room combo look inviting.
And that mural in the back, do you like it? My bohemian grandmother, artist till the end, painted that, it’s called “Dream of the young man to become a Bullfighter.” But don’t stop there, keep going, the ‘good’ living room feels like a cozy museum.
That’s my Grandpappy in the blue painting by Diego Rivera.
Cool, right? But that’s not the best part. Step out into the garden, peeps, go on.
Yes. Many an epic soccer game has gone down here. Many a piñata broken, many a tree climbed (or maybe just the fig). Truly, an idyllic locale.
And I didn’t want to go here, because we barely use it, but we also have a pool.
So, you’re now just missing the rooms and the kitchen, and you would have seen it all. Come back soon, y’hear.
